“Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS”: what it means
An officer is working on your case, or the case was touched in the system. It is not a decision.
What this status means
USCIS uses this message when an officer is reviewing the file. It can also appear after routine system activity, which is why some people see it more than once.
It does not mean an approval or a denial is about to happen, and it does not mean anything is wrong.
What usually happens next
- The case could be approved, USCIS could send a request for evidence, or it could be scheduled for an interview, depending on the form.
- Some cases show this status for a long time with no further change.
What to do now
- Keep your address current and watch for mail. A request for evidence comes with a deadline.
- If your case is well outside USCIS’s published processing time for your form, you can submit a case inquiry.
