How to file a DACA renewal
A DACA renewal is always three forms together: Form I-821D, Form I-765 and Form I-765WS, plus the fees. USCIS rejects a request that is missing any of them. You can file online or by mail.

Online or by mail
- Online: create a free USCIS online account, then file Forms I-821D, I-765 and I-765WS and pay the fees there. You can track the case, get notices and answer requests for evidence in the same account.
- By mail: send all three forms, the fees and any evidence to the USCIS lockbox given on the Form I-821D page. You can clip on Form G-1145 to get an email or text when USCIS accepts it.
- Paper filers also get a USCIS Account Acceptance Notice in the mail with instructions to create an online account for the case.
Filling in the forms
- Use the most recent edition of Form I-821D from the USCIS website. USCIS rejects older versions.
- Write your name, date of birth and mailing address exactly the same way on every form.
- If you fill them in by hand, use black ink only. No highlighters or red ink. Start a new form rather than using white-out.
- Sign every form, and mail every page.
What to include
For a renewal, USCIS says you generally don’t need new documents, unless you have new documents about removal proceedings or criminal history that you haven’t already submitted in an approved DACA request. USCIS can still ask for more. Anything in a foreign language needs a full English translation with a translator’s certification.
After you file
USCIS mails a receipt, then a biometrics appointment notice for an Application Support Center. Missing it can lead to denial. If granted, you get a written decision, and the work permit comes separately by mail. Keep your address current: you can update it in your USCIS online account. For questions, USCIS says to call the Contact Center at 800-375-5283 rather than visit a field office.
