“Fingerprint Fee Was Received”: what it means
USCIS has accepted the biometrics part of your filing. An appointment notice usually comes next.
What this status means
Some forms require fingerprints and a photo so USCIS can run background and identity checks. This message means USCIS has recorded that part of your filing as accepted.
Despite the name, you usually don’t pay a separate fingerprint fee; it simply marks the biometrics step as ready to schedule.
What usually happens next
- USCIS mails a biometrics appointment notice with a date, time and Application Support Center (ASC) location.
- Some applicants are not asked to attend because USCIS reuses fingerprints it already has on file.
What to do now
- Watch your mail and make sure USCIS has your current address.
- When the notice arrives, keep it. You bring it to the appointment with a photo ID.
