“Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed”: what it means
The interview is over and the officer did not decide in the room. The file goes on for review.
What this status means
The officer finished the interview without issuing a decision at the desk. The case now sits with USCIS while the evidence, and anything the interview raised, is reviewed.
It is a neutral message. It appears on cases that are later approved and on cases that are not, so by itself it does not point either way.
Several things can sit behind it without the public status changing: a background check that has not cleared, a second officer, or a supervisor reviewing the file before it is signed off.
What usually happens next
- USCIS may approve the case, ask for more evidence, or mail a decision. Each of those changes the status.
- Cases can rest on this message for a while. A long silence here is common and is not itself a sign that something is wrong.
What to do now
- Keep your address current with USCIS. The decision and any request for evidence arrive by mail, not by email.
- Keep the documents you took to the interview together, in case USCIS asks for something from them.
- Let the normal processing time for your form and office pass before submitting an inquiry.
