“Interview Was Scheduled”: what it means
USCIS has booked your interview and is mailing the notice with the date and office.

What this status means
Your case has an interview at a USCIS field office. USCIS sends a notice with the date, time and location of the interview.
The notice also lists what to bring. Read it closely: the list is specific to your case.
What it means for your form
- I-485 (green card)
- USCIS interviews every adjustment applicant unless it waives the interview, so an interview is the normal next step, not a sign that something is wrong.
- N-400 (citizenship)
- The interview is where an officer goes over your application with you. If it is approved, the last step is the oath ceremony, which can sometimes take place the same day; otherwise USCIS mails a notice with its date.

- You attend the interview. Some cases are decided on the day; others need more review or a request for evidence afterwards.

Bring every document the notice lists
Read the interview notice and bring every document it lists, plus the notice itself and a photo ID.
Reschedule early if you truly can’t attend
If you cannot attend, ask to reschedule as early as possible, before the interview date. USCIS says it reschedules only for emergency reasons outside your control, and some kinds of interview cannot be rescheduled.
Don’t skip the interview
Do not simply skip it. If you miss an interview and no rescheduling request reached USCIS by the interview date, the application can be treated as abandoned.

How long after “Interview Was Scheduled” does the interview letter arrive?
USCIS does not publish a mailing time for interview notices. If your online status says a notice was sent more than 14 days ago and nothing has arrived, USCIS asks you to contact it.
Make sure USCIS has your current address. USPS does not forward mail from USCIS, so a notice sent to an old address will not follow you.
Can I reschedule my USCIS interview?
Only for emergency reasons outside your control, according to USCIS, and some interviews cannot be rescheduled at all. If you cannot attend, contact USCIS as far ahead of the interview date as you can.
